Shippy Rodeo Bulls began in 1996 when Randy purchased a purebred Limousine bull calf for a practice bull. After bucking the calf, later named #S4 Ruby Red, Randy knew he was one of a kind. Ruby was bucked in the practice pen until he was 3 years old. At that time Randy was injured riding bulls, and decided it was time to start raising and hauling bucking bulls. He purchased a handful of bulls and started hauling them to open bull ridings in 1998. In 1999, Randy purchased his SDRA & NRCA contracting cards and Ruby and two other bulls were chosen to go to both finals.

Also, in the fall of '99, Randy purchased nine head of yearling Plummer bulls from Ronnie Roach. One being a maternal half-brother to the legendary herd sire Spook, this bull is known as #938 Baby Brother.  007 Secret Agent, 77 Stone Cold, and 28 Livewire were also in this set.

On May 27, 2000, Randy & Jennie were married on her parent’s ranch in WY. Also in 2000, Shippy Rodeo Bulls' S4 Ruby Red was chosen to go on the PBR circuit. Ruby was unridden in the PBR, throwing off JW Hart, Cody Hart, Tater Porter, Ross Coleman, and Danny Varnadore. He was selected as the Mossy Oak Shootout Bull in Grand Rapids, MI.

In the fall of 2000, S4 Ruby Red broke and dislocated his front knee before the PBR finals, which he was selected for. Despite his injury, he still made Cody Lambert's Top ten list of rankest bulls in 2000.

In Spring 2001, the first Plummer cross calves hit the ground out of #S4 Ruby Red and Chili Pepper daughters. The success the Lord has given us is unimaginable.  We have been blessed to do what we love for over 20 years.

In 2004, we purchased a 3-year-old, 13 Unhappy Gilmore (aka Big Deal), from Dibbet's out of Iowa. He proved to be a great bucker and was sold for an awesome $65,000. The highest selling 3-year-old bucking bull at the time. He later went on and won the 2004 ABBI Classic Championship for $108,000. He was also the 2005 Reserve Classic Champion. We do have semen for sale from him and many other great bulls.

We did have a big disappointment in 2004, and that one of our great bulls was the lost. 007 Secret Agent was hit by lightning and killed in July during a thunderstorm. Although he is gone, he produced two great calf crops. 007 sons and grandsons have proven themselves also. Every one of his sons’ bucks! We sold two of his sons to TX for $27,500 a piece, which both went to the NFR. Visit our PBR/PRCA bull page to view all the Shippy raised bulls that have competed at the highest levels.

We have had several great competition bulls throughout the years. We have purchased several herd sires throughout the years that have proved to be very beneficial to our program. We also have bred to several bulls we have raised.

We have met some great people throughout the years and been blessed to have many great partners on our bulls. We had our first production sale in 2008 and have several since. We now mostly sell online and by private treaty. If you are in the market for any cows or bulls, please call us anytime, 605-842-5089.

We invite you all to stop in and visit and look at the cattle if you are ever in the area!
